Multiple league sources have told Matt Lombardo of NJ.com in the pastย week that a “more realistic” salary for Eagles impending free agent QB Sam Bradford is between $16-$18 million per year.
The franchise tag would run a team close to $20 million, so assuming these figures are accurate, Bradford could be looking at a salary just a few million off.
Recent reports have said that the Eagles are not expected to use their franchise tagย Bradford, which means he’ll likely test the open market in the coming weeks.
The Eagles have already come up as speculative landing spots forย Chase Daniel andย Nick Foles, assuming he’s cut by the Rams.
New Eagles HC Doug Pederson told reporters at the Senior Bowl a few weeks ago that Bradfordย would “love to be back” in Philadelphia next year.
“Yeah he’d love to be back,” Pedersonย said, via NJ.com. “That’s a thing we have to continue to look at. I think he is a kid that would definitely fit the kind ofย offensiveย structure that I’ll bring.”
Bradford, 28, played out theย final year of hisย six-year, $78 million contractย that includedย $50 million guaranteed.
The free agent market for quarterbacks isn’t very deep with Bradford, Kirk Cousins, and Ryan Fitzpatrick being the most notable players, so it will be interesting to see where he ends up and the kind of contract he signs.
In 2015, Bradford threwย for 3,725 yards while completing 66 percent of his passes to go along with 19 touchdown passes and 14 interceptions.ย Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 12 quarterbackย out of 37 qualifying players.
We have Bradford featured in ourย Top 100 – 2016 Free Agents list.
