According to Matt Parrino, the Bills have reached out to Melvin Gordon‘s reps and there is interest in both sides on a deal.
Gordon would be the second high-profile addition to Buffalo’s offense following the trade for WR Stefon Diggs. He would team up with 2019 third-round RB Devin Singletary in Buffalo’s backfield.
It will be interesting to see what kind of market develops for Gordon this offseason. He’s one of the best available running backs, but is coming off of a down year and facing challenging contract dynamics because of his position.
Gordon is testing the market as an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his career.
Gordon, 26, is a former first-round pick out of Wisconsin by the Chargers in the 2015 NFL Draft. He signed a four-year $10.669 million rookie contract that was fully guaranteed and made a base salary of $1,889,967 for the 2018 season.
The Chargers picked up Gordon’s fifth-year option this past May worth $5,605,000 for the 2019 season.
In 2019, Gordon appeared in 12 games for the Chargers and rushed for 612 yards on 162 carries (3.8 YPC) to go along with 42 receptions for 296 yards receiving and nine total touchdowns.
We have him included in our Top 100 – 2020 Free Agents list.
