Rob Demovsky of ESPN reports that the Packers have already contacted free agent CB Davon House about a return to Green Bay. According to Demovsky, there is “mutual interest” between the two parties in a potential deal.
As soon as reports surfaced that House could be cut, many made the connection to the Packers, given that they wanted to retain him a few years ago and could really use some help at the cornerback position.
It’s worth mentioning that signing him to a contract won’t impact a team’s compensatory picks, considering that he was released.
House, 27, is a former fourth-round pick of the Packers back in 2011. He spent four years in Green Bay before signing a four-year, $24.5 million contract that included $10 million guaranteed with the Jaguars back in 2015.
House was set to make base salaries of $6 millionย over the final two years of the agreement when the Jaguars released him in a move that freed up $6 million of available cap space.
In 2016,ย House appeared in all 16 games for the Jaguars and recorded 17 tackles and no sacks or interceptions.ย Pro Football Focus rates House as aย below-average cornerback last year while playing 272 snaps for the Jaguars.
