New Contract For Raiders S Tyvon Branch “In The Works”

Steve Corkran of the Oakland Tribune reports that a contract extension for Raiders S Tyvon Branch is currently “in the works right now.”

Since taking the Raiders GM job, Reggie McKenzie has made it pretty clear that keeping Branch in place as their safety is one of his top priorities. Oakland franchised him back in March, but locking him up to a long-term contract would almost certainly lower his current salary of $6.2 million, to something more reasonable.

Branch, 25, still has plenty to work on, but he’s a solid prospect that could develop into a game changing player for the Raiders.
