Multiple reports Monday morning say the New York Jets officially sign second round draft pick Geno Smith to a four year deal.
Smith, the 39th overall pick in this year’s draft, will make roughly $5 million a year based off of last year’s draft slot value.
The 22-year-old enters Jets training camp behind Mark Sanchez for the starting quarterback job. At the time, it’s unknown whether he is in the lead to win the position battle or not.
The good news for Smith is that head coach Rex Ryan recently said the team was no where close to naming a starting QB. This would imply that the position is literally up for grabs.
