49ers
With a number of franchise tags being used to retain high-profile pass rushers, 49ers GM John Lynch says he’s confident the team can address its need at defensive end.
โI would tell you that itโs a great year to be looking for D-Linemen in general,โ Lynch said via Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports. โI hear people talking, Iโve been doing this for a couple of years, but theyโre talking eight years, this is as strong of a class as the last eight years at the defensive line. I concur. Itโs not just exclusively at one position. Thereโs inside guys, thereโs outside guys and youโre right, thereโs some on the free agent market.โ
If San Francisco turns to free agency, Chan identifies Lions DE Ezekiel Ansah and Rams DE Dante Fowler as potential targets. The 49ers could also explore a trade for Chiefs LB Justin Houston.
Packers
Packers restricted free agent WR Geronimo Allision says he’s hoping to be back in Green Bay for the 2019 season.
โI see it, like in different articles out there, so at times it crosses my mind,โ Allison said, via the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. โBut for the most part I just try to stay in the moment and consistently understand that this is my home and Iโm here. Iโve been doing well. Iโm active in the community. My teammates love me. The organization loves me around here. So Iโm happy here. It seems like theyโre happy to have me here. Iโve been productive since Iโve been here, so Iโm hoping to continue to be here.โ
Saints
- The Athletic’s Larry Holder says the more he talks to sources with the team, the less likely a potential trade for WR Antonio Brown becomes.
- Holder said the Saints are intrigued by WR Adam Humphries as a possible free agent addition to complement Michael Thomas.
- Saints HC Sean Payton also mentioned interior offensive line as a potential need for New Orleans. G Andrus Peat and C Max Unger are each entering the final year of their deal.
