NFC Notes: 49ers, Rams, Seahawks

49ers

49ers GM John Lynch said recently that he believes they’ve have had “two good drafts” and they will look supplement their drafts with some more free agent additions.

โ€œItโ€™s tough because you have to be patient, but weโ€™ve got to kind of draft our way out of this,โ€ Lynch said, via the San Francisco Chronicle. โ€œI think weโ€™ve had two good drafts. Weโ€™ve got to continue to put those out there. We also have some money to spend in free agency this offseason.โ€

Lynch did, however, admit that he has more work to do to get the roster where it needs to be.

โ€œIs it a complete roster? No. Not by any means,โ€ Lynch said. โ€œWe need to get better. And thatโ€™s a big part of my job. And I need to do better there. But we have enough. I think thatโ€™s evidenced by the fact that weโ€™re in all these games. We just need to learn how to finish.โ€

Rams

Rams HC Sean McVay said he expects newly acquired OLB Dante Fowler Jr. to step in and help their pass rush right away.

โ€œWe feel like heโ€™s going to help us, specifically from a rush perspective,โ€ McVay said, via Pro Football Talk. โ€œGot him in here and weโ€™ll see how quickly he can get up to speed, if heโ€™s going to be able to contribute and help us this weekend. But weโ€™re excited to get Dante here.โ€

Fowler says he’s looking forward to having a “fresh start” with a new team.

โ€œA new chapter,โ€ Fowler said, via the Los Angeles Times. โ€œThatโ€™s how I look at it.

โ€œJust a fresh start. For me being able to start over and just show guys who I really am.โ€

Seahawks

Although the Seahawks released veteran WR Brandon Marshall, HC Pete Carrollย said it’s possible they could bring Marshall back depending on how things go in the coming weeks.

โ€œHe was a great pro for us,โ€ Carroll said, via Pro Football Talk. โ€œHe did such good stuff [and] helped guys on both sides of the football with all of his experience and all that. Heโ€™s in terrific shape for this stage of his career and he can still play. It happened that we looked at the roster, we looked at the way weโ€™re running the football, we needed a little bit more help across the board with [special] teams and some stuff that would help us in general. Thereโ€™s just not enough throws to get it to him, but he can play and in the event where something came down and we had a chance, weโ€™d love to have him back. We just had to do something right now and itโ€™s unfortunate.โ€
