NFC Notes: Aaron Rodgers, Bears, Packers, Vikings

Bears

  • Bears NT Eddie Goldman‘s future remains uncertain after being an unexcused absence at the team’s Minicamp.
  • The Bears have said they expected Goldman to report for training camp, a league source tells Brad Briggs of the Chicago Tribune that Goldman “could be weighing retirement.

Packers

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler explains that Packers QB Aaron Rodgers doesn’t have a market right now because Green Bay has given “zero indications” they are trading him.

“Hence, there’s nothing for monitoring teams to do right now,” he said.

Before taking part in “The Match” on Tuesday, Rodgers gave a proverb to the media when asked about the reported rift between him and the team.

“Sometimes the loudest person in the room is not the smartest person. Sometimes the loudest person in the room is not the person who has all the facts on their side or the truth on their side. Sometimes there’s a lot of wisdom in silence. Sometimes there’s a lot of wisdom in being selective on what you say,” Rodgers said per ESPN’s Ben Baby.

Vikings

  • Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher said he thinks RB Dalvin Cook is the best running back in the league: “I’ll take him with anybody… I know there are some great ones, and I don’t mean to slight anybody else, but I know what Dalvin’s capabilities are. ..He’s one of the most special guys in the league.” (Chris Tomasson)
  • Fisher added he doesn’t understand how Cook wasn’t a first-round pick in 2017: “The Vikings got the steal of the draft… All the ones who didn’t think he was first round, I never understood that, and I used to laugh at that in that somebody’s going to regret that one day.” (Tomasson)
