NFC Notes: Bears, Buccaneers, Packers

Bears

Bears WR Allen Robinson is set to debut for Chicago this Saturday when they take on the Broncos and appear in his first game since suffering a torn ACL last year.

โ€œItโ€™s something Iโ€™m ready for and excited for,โ€ Robinson said, via the Chicago Sun-Times. โ€œItโ€™s been awhile. Iโ€™ve put the work in every day, trying to get better and perfect my craft.โ€

Buccaneers

Buccaneers HC Dirk Koetter said Monday that RB Peyton Barber โ€œis our starter.โ€

โ€œPeyton is our starter,โ€ Koetter said, via the Tampa Bay Times. โ€œWeโ€™re definitely going to use Ronald Jones and take advantage of what heโ€™s going to do. We do have the two veteran backs behind him. Again, weโ€™ve got three more preseason games. Letโ€™s just let it sort out a little more.โ€

  • According to Greg Auman, RB Charles Sims is not a lock to make the Buccaneersโ€™ 53-man roster, even though Tampa Bay likes him as their third-down back.
  • Auman adds that if rookie Shaun Wilson continues to impress, he could make the team at expense of Sims or Jacquizz Rodgers.

Packers

  • Packers GM Brian Gutekunst told reporters on Monday that fifth-round OL Cole Madison is still dealing with a personal matter away from the team: โ€œWe donโ€™t expect Cole back anytime soon. โ€ฆ Heโ€™s dealing with an issue, and when that issue is resolved weโ€™ll get back to the football part of it.โ€ (Michael Cohen)
  • Madisonโ€™s agent tells Rob Demovsky that his client does plan to play at some point: โ€œThe plan is still to play. At this point, heโ€™s still dealing with a personal thing like Brian said.โ€
