NFC Notes: Bears, Lions, Packers, Seahawks

Bears

Bears HC Matt Nagy defended QB Mitch Trubisky‘s performance against the Patriots, saying “he playedย betterย than most people think he played.”

โ€œGoing back and watching tape, he played as I thought. Heย played betterย than most people think he played,โ€ Nagy said, via theย Chicago Sun-Times. โ€œEarly in the game, there were some throws that look like he missed them, but he missed them because the [receiver] isnโ€™t open and itโ€™s more of a throwaway.ย Thatโ€™s where, to an outsider, it looks like heโ€™s inaccurate when really heโ€™s just trying to get the ball away because [the receivers] werenโ€™t winning outside. Our offense understands that. Our guys know it. They understand that weโ€™ve got to play better.

Lions

Lions HC Matt Patricia says that franchise DE Ziggy Ansah is “doing everything he can day by day to get out there and play.

โ€œHereโ€™s what Iโ€™m going to say about the Ziggy conversation, just so I can answer all those questions up front,โ€ Patricia said, via the Detroitย Free Press. โ€œZiggyโ€™s doing everything he can day by day to get out there and play. And when heโ€™s ready to go heโ€™s certainly, heโ€™s someone that we think can help us win.

โ€œAnd thatโ€™s the bottom line, is weโ€™re trying to win. So when we have anybody on our team that will help us win weโ€™ll put them out on the field.โ€

Packers

  • Packers QB Aaron Rodgers said itโ€™s still too early in theย week to say whether heโ€™ll no longer use a knee brace. Rodgers did not undergo an MRI during the bye. (Tom Pelissero)

Seahawks

Seahawks HCย Pete Carroll told reporters after practice on Monday that S T.J. Greenย decided he didnโ€™t want to continue playing football any longer, which explains why they placed him on the leftย squad list.

โ€œHe was ready to stop playing football,โ€ Carroll said of Green, via Pro Football Talk. โ€œI donโ€™t know any more about it than that really. He was done playing ball.โ€
