- CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora says the Eagles are coming up in league circles as a team that could make some coaching staff changes on the defensive side of the ball. Philadelphia’s defensive coordinator is Jim Schwartz.
- Over The Cap’s Jason Fitzgerald analyzes the Eagles’ options with QB Carson Wentz‘s contract. Fitzgerald notes Philadelphia can’t even consider cutting Wentz unless it’s a June 1 cut.
- He adds a trade is the only real viable option because it relieves the Eagles of responsibility for future guaranteed salaries and preserves some much-needed cap flexibility in 2021, but it has to be done before the third day of the 2021 league year.
- Fitzgerald thinks the Eagles could ask for a third-round pick and some conditionals for Wentz. He mentions the Colts as a team that makes sense with HC Frank Reich and a ton of cap space.
- Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer notes Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie did not attend last week’s Browns/Eagles game officially because of concerns for the virus. However, McLane says it’s widely believed in the building Lurie skipped the game because he’s unhappy with the product on the field. He adds Lurie has left a few workouts out of disgust this year.
Giants
- Giants QB Daniel Jones has an MRI scheduled for Monday. Jones said he’s not discouraged by what he’s been told so far, but won’t know anything for certain until they examine his hamstring further. (Art Stapleton)
- Jones said of the injury: “Felt it on that play and didn’t feel like I could run on it really or do what I needed to do to be effective to move the ball and throw it accurately. Will look to rehab it and take it day by day.” (Pat Leonard)
- Jones said “itโs tough to say” whether he’ll be ready to face the Seahawks next week. (Ralph Vacchiano)
- Giants HC Joe Judge did, however, tell reporters that he’s “optimistic” about Jones playing next week but he doesn’t have enough info right now to say for certain. (Ryan Dunleavy)
- Giants K Graham Gano told reporters that he was symptomatic after recently testing positive for COVID-19. Gano said he had a high fever, body aches, fatigue, and lost taste and smell for a bit. Beyond that, he said he felt “pretty beat” after Sunday’s game. (Matt Lombardo)
