• Albert Breer expects teams to call the Falcons about a potential trade for WR Julio Jones, given that the free agent market is lacking at the position. 

Panthers

Panthers QB Cam Newton said on his YouTube channel Thursday that he couldn’t throw the football more than 30 yards as the season progressed because of the soreness in his right shoulder.

“No lie,” Newton said, per David Newton. “I felt like defenses was exposing me because I couldn’t throw the ball down field. Not being in a position physically to be able to make the throws that you know you’re capable of making, that was the disheartening thing of the whole year.’’

Saints

• Nick Underhill of the Advocate reports that Saints DL David Onyemata was arrested for marijuana possession last month.
