NFC West Notes: 49ers, Cardinals, Seahawks

49ers

The 49ers designated LB Kwon Alexander to return from injured reserve this week after he suffered a serious pectoral injury several months ago.

Alexander says he spoke with Texans DE J.J. Watt, who is returning from a similar injury, and it “lifted [him] a little bit.

โ€œI talked to him,โ€ Alexander said, via NBC Bay Area. โ€œIโ€™m happy to see him back. I canโ€™t wait to see him play on Saturday. He lifted me up a little bit. I appreciate him, too.

โ€œYou see heโ€™s back and heโ€™s been doing well.โ€

Alexander says he’s prepared to handle any role the team needs from him moving forward.

โ€œWhatever coach tells me,โ€ Alexander said. โ€œIโ€™m going to be ready for whatever situation it is. Iโ€™ll be prepared if it is.โ€

  • Sources have told Matt Miller that they believe a trade back is “very likely” for the 49ers, given that they own just six picks in this year’s draft and none in the middle rounds.

Cardinals

  • According to Matt Miller, the internal belief regarding the Cardinals is that offensive line is too big of a need to overlook.

Seahawks

  • Seahawks HC Pete Carroll said WR Jaron Brown has bounced back extremely well from his knee injury and would have practiced Friday if he didnโ€™t need to attend to a personal matter. (Curtis Crabtree)
  • Carroll mentioned that RB Marshawn Lynch has continued to be more involved and he has the full game plan at his disposal at this point. (Curtis Crabtree)
  • According to Carroll, G Mike Iupati would be a game-time decision. Jamarco Jones would likely fill in at left guard if Iupati can’t play. (Bob Condotta)
  • OUT for Wildcard game: T Duane Brown (knee, biceps), LB Mychal Kendricks (knee), WR Malik Turner (concussion)
  • QUESTIONABLE for Wildcard game: WR Jaron Brown (knee, personal), G Mike Iupati (neck)
