NFC West Notes: 49ers, Cardinals, Seahawks

49ers

49ers OL Daniel Brunskill started games at three positions in 2019, but it is unclear if he will be a tackle or a guard going forward.

“I love the fact that he can play all five (positions),”  49ers HC Kyle Shanahan said of Brunskill. “The only thing we haven’t put him at is center and I believe he could do that. So that’s a really valuable deal. I think he did good at guard and I think he did good at tackle. I probably saw him more as a guard, then he surprised me at tackle. So he’s going to get better at both, so we’ll see where he ends up.”

  • According to Matt Barrows of The Athletic, TE George Kittle‘s agent said on Thursday that he is prepared to be “very patient” when it comes to receiving a new deal.  Kittle is expected to eventually sign a deal that will be the biggest signed by a tight end and could be near some of the league’s top receivers.
  • Both the deals for Kittle and DL DeForest Buckner are unlikely to be completed until a new collective bargaining agreement is ratified by the players, says Barrows.
  • According to Barrows, the 49ers have had discussions about reviving the annual preseason game with the Raiders. The usual preseason matchup was halted indefinitely after a violent game at Candlestick Park in 2011, where multiple stabbings and a shooting took place.
  • According to Jason La Canfora, the 49ers want to find a way to retain DL Arik Armstead. However, he gets the sense from other teams that they project Armstead to hit the market.

Cardinals

Seahawks

  • Brady Henderson reports that Greg Olsen’s one-year, $7 million deal with the Seahawks includes a $3.75 million signing bonus and a guaranteed $1.75 million base salary.
  • Olsen gets $5.5 million in full guarantees and $1.5 million in per-game roster bonuses ($750,000 for the 53-man roster and $750,000 for the 46-man roster).
