NFL Could Suspend Tyreek Hill Next Month?

According to the Athletic’s Nate Taylor, the Chiefs believe WR Tyreek Hill could be suspended by the NFL as soon as next month.

The Chiefs have suspended Hill indefinitely from all team-related activities following an investigation into potential child abuse of Hill’s three-year-old son.

The district attorney declined to file charges because it could not be determined if Hill or his fiancee broke the child’s arm. The criminal case is inactive, but there is another investigation that is still open for Hill with the Kansas Department for Children and Families.

NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero reported “there‘s every reason to believe” Hill will be back with the Chiefs for training camp. Pelissero admits there’s still a chance the NFL could intervene and place Hill on the commissioner’s exempt list while their investigation continues, but this is something the NFL has rarely done without charges.

Hill, 25, is a former fifth-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2016. He is entering the final year of his four-year, $2.58 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $1,965,036 for the 2019 season.

In 2018, Hill appeared in 16 games for the Chiefs and caught 87 passes for 1,479 yards receiving and 12 touchdowns to go along with 151 yards rushing and a touchdown. Hill also totaled 213 punt returns and one touchdown. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 7 receiver out of 117 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding Hill as the news is available.
