NFL Draft Rumors: Eagles, Dolphins, Michael Floyd, Kendall Wright

Eagles

Sports Illustrated writer Peter King “can see” the Phialdelphia Eagles drafting a quarterback to develop in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft.

The Eagles have the 46th and 51st picks, the latter courtesy of the Kevin Kolb trade last year. Mike Kafka, who is only 24 and was drafted in the fourth round in 2010, is the current back-up to Michael Vick.

Dolphins

King “doesn’t see” the Miami Dolphins moving up to the third overall pick, currently held by the Minnesota Vikings, in order to draft Texas A&M quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

There’s a good chance that Tannehill will still be on the board when the Dolphins are on the clock at eighth overall, but the possibility of the Cleveland Browns taking him with the fourth pick looms.

Michael Floyd

King also believes there is “no way” that Notre Dame wide receiver Michael Floyd will still be on the board when the Cincinnati Bengals are on the clock with the 17th pick in the first round. Floyd has seen his draft stock skyrocket following his impressive Pro Day, and he is now seen as a top-ten prospect.

Some even prefer him to Oklahoma State wideout Justin Blackmon, who was previously the unanimous premiere WR of this year’s draft class.

Kendall Wright

King thinks that Baylor WR Kendall Wright‘s poor performance at the Combine “shouldn’t crush him” on draft weekend.

Wright was officially timed at 4.61 in his 40-yard dash at the Combine, but was unofficially timed as low as 4.49 and 4.51 by some teams. He improved upon those times at Baylor’s pro day, running unofficial times of 4.43 and 4.46.

Teams such as Cleveland, Denver and Houston may be interested in drafting a receiver in the first round, so there is a possibility that Wright could go on the first day.
