NFL Notes: 2015 Draft, Greg Schiano, Chiefs, & Jaguars

2015 Draft

• Ian Rapoport has spoken to an NFL general manager who mentioned that there could be as many as 10 running backs taken in the top-100 picks next year.

Greg Schiano

Gil Brandt of the NFL.com mentions that former Buccaneers HC Greg Schiano could be a wildcard for the University of Michigan head coaching job and possibly even the favorite.

• Schiano is expected to get “excellent recommendations from high-powered NFL coaches.”
• According to the people Brandt has spoken to, Schiano is a “changed man.”

Chiefs

• OC Doug Pederson said their plan is to give RB Jamaal Charles the ball “as often as we can.“

“We as a staff, and me as a coordinator, I have to allow him to touch the football as often as we can,” Pederson said, via Randy Covitz of the Kansas City Star. “You look at the stat sheet and look at the targets and the number of touches that guys get, and then you go back and say, ‘Oh, I wish I would have done this or I wish I would have done that, or more of this or less of that,’ after the game, win or lose.”

Jaguars

• John Oehser of Jaguars.com mentioned in his recent mailbag that he believes there’s a “good chance” former first-round pick WR Justin Blackmon plays for them in 2015.
