NFL Notes: Johnny Manziel, Broncos, Chiefs, & Seahawks

Johnny Manziel

Mike Sando of ESPN spoke to numerous sources around the league about the possibility of the Browns trading QB Johnny Manziel next year.

They way things are shaping up, the Browns figure to be drafting in the top five, and have new leadership in place, which means they would be in great position to draft another quarterback to build around.

โ€œPicking that high, you have a chance to get someone who you really think is going to be the guy, someone who is a unifier in your building,โ€ an executive tells Sando. โ€œIf you are the team owner, you say, โ€˜Manziel may or may not be the guy. He is 5-foot-10 and has big question marks. Look at Jameis Winston or even Marcus Mariota. Those are real starting quarterbacks. That is what we have to have.โ€˜โ€

Keeping Manziel around while drafting quarterback may only create more issues for the Browns.

โ€œJohnny clouds the issue if he is there,โ€ the exec said. โ€œYou want it to be the new kidโ€™s team.โ€

Sando tosses out the Cowboys, Rams and Eagles as three teams that could offer a draft for Manziel.

Broncos

  • Mike Klis of 9News reports that the Broncos will start QB Brock Osweiler against the Steelers in Week 15.
  • According to Klis, Peyton Manning could return to practice on Wednesday, but they arenโ€™t going to rush him back for a big game coming up against the Steelers.

Chiefs

  • Ian Rapoport reports that X-Rays on Chiefs RB Spencer Wareโ€˜s ribs were negative, but heโ€™s still โ€œbruised, swollen an in pain.โ€œ
