NFL Notes: Bears, Raiders, Saints

Bears

Bears first-round QB Mitch Trubisky said he’s been taking reps with the second-string offense since Mark Sanchez suffered a minor knee injury last week.

โ€œIโ€™m getting about the same number of reps, maybe a little more,โ€ Trubisky said, via ESPN.com. โ€œAnd instead of the threes, Iโ€™m with the twos. So itโ€™s getting the reps, getting comfortable and whoever Iโ€™m with, whenever Iโ€™m in the huddle. Itโ€™s taking command and doing my job.โ€

Trubisky added that he’s made “a lot of progress” and is getting more and more comfortable with the team’s offense.

โ€œIโ€™ve made a lot of progress,โ€ Trubisky said. โ€œIโ€™d say Iโ€™m getting better every day. Iโ€™m getting a little bit more comfortable every day. Iโ€™m studying a lot. Iโ€™ve put in more work on this playbook than Iโ€™ve put into anything in my life. And yeah, itโ€™s coming along great. Iโ€™m getting more and more comfortable. Iโ€™ve seen strides in different areas every day.

“[Specifically itโ€™s been] knowing the playbook. Knowing everyoneโ€™s job. Just the command of the offense and the whole operation. And itโ€™s just going down, doing my job and getting the ball to the playmakers.โ€

Raiders

Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch told reporters on Tuesday that he made the decision to return to the NFL and sign with Oakland following the news that they were moving to Las Vegas.

โ€œJust to play in Oakland is a dream come true,โ€ Lynch said, via Pro Football Talk. โ€œItโ€™s always been something, being from Oakland, you want to play at home or have that opportunity. Them staying, it probably wouldnโ€™t have been so big for me to want to come and play. But knowing that they were leaving and a lot of the kids here wonโ€™t have the opportunity to see most of their idols growing up be in their hometown anymore, me being from here, them continuing to be here, it gives them an opportunity to see somebody who actually did it from where theyโ€™re from.โ€

Saints

  • According to Nick Underhill, the Saints had interest in signing veteran OLB Elvis Dumervil, but a deal never came together between the two parties.
  • In case you missed it, the 49ers recently signed Dumervil to a contract. (NFLTR)
