Buccaneers

GM Jason Licht made it clear that 2012 second-round pick DE Da’Quan Bowers will need to prove his worth this season.

“I (don’t) mean to sound too harsh, but it’s a matter of fact that he needs to prove that he wants to make an impact with this football team and I expect that he will,’’ Licht said, via Roy Cummings of the Tampa Bay Tribune.

Cardinals

The Cardinals could have first-round pick S Deone Bucannon replace LB Larry Foote in sub packages this season.

“We have a young man in Deone who is just a natural for it,” HC Bruce Arians said, via Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic. “Sixty percent of the game is nickel (defense), and whether we have two linebackers out there or a safety and a linebacker is yet to be seen.”

Colts

• RB Vick Ballard was carted off the field with an apparent ankle injury. (Mike Chappell)

Raiders

• “If [D.J. Hayden] ever produces for the Raiders, it’ll be an unexpected bonus,” writes Tim Kawakami of the Mercury News.

Titans

• HC Ken Whisenhunt announced that RB Shonn Greene has been cleared for training camp.
