Carson Wentz
Eagles QB Carson Wentz addressed the prior report in which he was described as selfish, uncompromising and egotistical by unnamed players and other sources close to the team.
โI know who I am, first of all. I know how I carry myself. I know Iโm not perfect. I know I have flaws,โ Wentz said, via Philly.com. โSo Iโm not going to sit here and say it was inaccurate and completely made up. Iโm not going to do that. โฆ I realize I have my shortcomings. Yes, I can be selfish. I think we all have selfishness inside of us. Thereโs human elements to that, that I really look at and say, โWell, I can get better.’โ
โAnytime youโre a Type-A guy, thereโs a fine line being pushy and shove-y and humble and humility and walking that line,โ Wentz added. โDefinitely learning to navigate that always and never trying to look down on anybody or make it seem like Iโm better than anybody. But at the same time, as a Type-A, so-to-speak, confident person thatโs confident in off-the-field things and then on the field with what we like, thatโs not going to change.โ
Nick Foles
- Albert Breer expects the Eagles to pick up QB Nick Foles‘ $20 million option and for him to respond by exercising his $2 million buyout.
- From there, Breer says the Eagles will likely gauge the trade market for Foles in a tag-and-trade situation. The Eagles could discuss potential deals and try to get one lined up before applying their franchise tag towards the end of the month.
- Should Foles be franchised by Philadelphia, Breer mentions that he’ll likely sign the tender immediately.
- The Athletic’s Sheil Kapadia thinks the Eagles are bluffing about franchise tagging Foles and then looking to trade him.
- Kapadia doesn’t expect the Eagles to tag Foles and tie up nearly $25 million in cap space unless they already have a trade in place.
- Kapadia believes the Eagles are trying to drum up interest in Foles and convince a team they need to trade for him before another team does.
- If the Eagles let Foles hit free agency, they’d be in line to receive a third-round compensatory pick.
Eagles
- Bruce Feldman reports that former QB G.J. Kinne has agreed to become an offensive assistant with the Eagles.
-
Jimmy Kempski of PhillyVoice.com believes the Eagles should consider signing veteran DT Gerald McCoy if he ends up being released by the Buccaneers this offseason.
-
However, Kempski explains that trading for him just doesn’t make a lot of sense when you consider the Eagles’ cap situation and the fact that McCoy is owed $13 million in 2019.
-
Kempski considers defensive to be a big long-term need for the Eagles.
-
Regarding the draft, Kempski thinks Oklahoma WR Marquise Brown and Ole Miss WR D.K. Metcalf would both be good deep-threat options for the Eagles to consider this year.
