NFL Notes: Colin Kaepernick, Colts, Eagles, Lions

Colin Kaepernick

Harry Edwards, a sociologist who has been an adviser to Colin Kaepernick, tells Jarrett Bell of USA Today that three teams have contacted him about Kaepernick since free agency opened in March.

“They’ve asked, ‘Can he play? Does he want to play?’ “ Edwards said. “The last question I can’t answer. The first question, absolutely. If Kaep makes up his mind, he wouldn’t only go in and make a team, he’d put pressure on somebody to start.”

However, Kaepernick’s girlfriend, Nessa Diab, refuted the claims on her Twitter account:

  • Trick-shot K Josh Gable will tryout for the Colts during their rookie minicamp this weekend. (Mike Reiss)

  • The Philadelphia Eagles announced that they’ve signed undrafted free agent TE Billy Brown to a contract on Friday.

The Detroit Lions announced some changes to their scouting department on Friday including:

  • Kyle O’Brien, Vice President of Player Personnel
  • Lance Newmark, Director of Player Personnel
  • Dave Sears, Assistant Director of College Scouting
  • Steve Neal, Area Scout
  • Ron Miles, College Scout
  • Eloy Ledesma, BLESTO Scout
