NFL Notes: Draft, Falcons, Jets, Panthers

Draft

  • Albert Breer of TheMMQB.com writes that the feeling he’s getting is that the gap between Ohio Stateโ€™s Nick Bosa and the next best edge rusher is pretty significant.
  • According to Breer, Oregonโ€™s Justin Herbert and Ohio Stateโ€™s Dwayne Haskins seem to have separated from the pack at quarterback.
  • Breer mentions that the talent at skill positions in next year’s draft “isn’t very good.” Breer lists Ole Miss’ A.J. Brown as the top receiver and Alabamaโ€™s Damien Harris as the top running back.
  • According to Breer, the offensive line class is expected to be good, but there isn’t a “can’t-miss left tackle” prospect.
  • Breer believes LSU linebacker Devin White could end up being the second best player in the draft.

Jets

  • The New York Jets tried out CFL LBs Jameer Thurman and James Vaughters last Friday. (Howard Balzer)

Falcons

Panthers

  • Ian Rapoport reports that Panthers TE Greg Olsen (foot, injured reserve) underwent surgery this past week and will make a full recovery.
  • Olsen posted on his Instagram that “surgery went well and I am on my way towards a full recovery.
