NFL Notes: Jameis Winston, Eagles, Jets, Panthers, & Redskins

Jameis Winston

  • MMQB’s Peter King reports that the Buccaneers included a clause in No. 1 overall pick QB Jameis Winston’s contract that prohibits him from playing professional baseball during the duration of his deal.
  • Albert Breer reports that Winston’s four-year deal also includes offsets.

Eagles

  • Anthony Patch is no longer the Eagles’ director of college scouting. (Neil Stratton)
  • Eagles pro personnel director Rick Mueller is also out in Philadelphia. (Neil Stratton)

Jets

  • Brian Costello reports that the Jets have fired director of pro personnel Brendan Prophett.
  • According to Costello, the team also fired scouts Rick Courtright, David Hinson, Cole Hufnagel, Chris Prescott and Seth Turner.

Panthers

  • Aaron Wilson reports that Morningside College RB Brandon Wegher is signing a three-year deal with the Panthers.

Redskins

  • Redskins GM Scot McCloughan said that they wanted to trade back in round one, but all of the interest was contingent upon Florida DE/OLB Dante Fowler still being on the board. (Redskins)
  • Once the Jaguars took him at No. 3 overall, no one wanted to trade up, according to McCloughan. (Redskins)
  • In the event that OL Brandon Scherrf wasn’t available to them, McCloughan said they had USC DL Leonard Williams as their “1B” option. (Around the NFL)
