NFL Notes: Josh Gordon, Cardinals, Eagles, Texans

Josh Gordon

Former Olympian Tim Montgomery, who has been working with suspended Browns WR Josh Gordon, expects him to return at some point during the 2017 season.

โ€œHeโ€™s coming,โ€ Montgomery told Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. โ€œI think heโ€™s going to be there this season.โ€

Gordon is still in rehab but he is hoping to have his suspension lifted soon after heโ€™s released on Sept. 21.

โ€œHeโ€™s been clean, so weโ€™re hoping after 90 days heโ€™s reinstated and they put him back in the league, which it looks like theyโ€™re going to do that,โ€ said Montgomery.

Montgomery believes Gordon was denied reinstatement this past May because he missed his mandatory drug tests.

โ€œItโ€™s my understanding that Josh was clean, but that he wasnโ€™t answering his phone,โ€ said Montgomery. โ€œJosh would go somewhere and he wouldnโ€™t tell anyone he was going out of town and he wouldnโ€™t pick his phone up. He didnโ€™t want to tell his people โ€˜I canโ€™t come out there because Iโ€™ve got to stay here and answer the phone for drug tests.โ€™โ€

Cardinals

Eagles

  • According to Howard Balzer, the Eagles worked out three kickers on Tuesday including Marshall Koehn, Josh Lambo, and Mike Nugent.
  • The Eagles ultimately signed K Jake Elliott off of the Bengalsโ€™ practice squad.

Texans

  • Aaron Wilson reports that Texans RG Jeff Allen (ankle) will miss Week 2 and could miss a โ€œfew gamesโ€ with his injury.
