NFL Notes: Julio Jones, Ray Rice, Tom Brady, & Jets

Julio Jones

Ian Rapoport reports that there’s still no word regarding a long-term extension for Falcons WR Julio Jones.

However, Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff mentioned that discussions up to this point have been the most “professional and team cognizant contract approach he’s seen.

Ray Rice

Texans owner Bob McNair was about the possibility of signing free agent RB Ray Rice on Thursday.

“We have four good running backs I don’t know that he’s better than them,” McNair replied, per Aaron Wilson.

McNair added that he’s isn’t sure Rice would be a fit in the team’s locker room, per Wilson.

Tom Brady

  • Andrew Brandt mentions that the court order shows that both the NFL and Tom Brady‘s reps will meet again in conference next Wednesday.
However, neither Brady nor Goodell are required to attend the hearing.

Jets

  • According to Josina Anderson, the Jets plan to “take a look” at their quarterback situation shortly after returning from tonight’s preseason game.
