NFL Notes: Suspensions, Bears, Bills, Giants, Jets, & Titans

Suspensions

Field Yates offers a list of free agents who have recently been suspended for violating the league’s policies:

• WR Mike Williams (three weeks)
• RB Jonathan Dwyer (three weeks)
• LB Jermaine Cunningham (six weeks)
• G Rodney Austin (six weeks)

Bears

• Ian Rapoport reports that Bears WR Alshon Jeffery (calf) is “progressing well,” and the team is hoping that he’ll be ready for opening game against the Packers.

Bills

• Vic Carruci, citing sources close to Bills QB EJ Manuel, reports that the former first-round pick is not looking to be released or traded to move on from the Bills, even after it was announced that he’s their No. 3 quarterback.

Giants

• Ian Rapoport reports that the Giants hosted 17 players for tryouts on Tuesday, including two punters. However, Rapoport doesn’t offer any specifics beyond that.

Jets

• Aaron Wilson reports that the Jets are signing DL Mike Catapano to their practice squad.
• Catapano had visits lined up with the Bears, Packers and Vikings, but has already canceled them.

Titans

• Aaron Wilson reports that Titans are expected to reach an injury settlement with Yawin Smallwood, who’s groin injury is relatively minor and should fine at some point in the near future.
