NFL Notes: Trades, 49ers, Giants

Trades

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, citing a league source, reports that there’s an “unprecedented number” of players requesting to be traded this year.

“I’ve never seen a year where more players want to be traded,” Florio’s source said. “That fact that DeSean Jackson asked is laughable. So many players are asking to be traded. It’s an ego thing. It’s like wanting to be upgraded to first class. There are only so many seats.”

49ers

49ers HC Kyle Shanahan was asked about the report that WR Pierre Garcon is on the trade block.

“Nothing is going down right now,” Shanahan said, via the Mercury News. “We’ll see how these next two days play out, for Pierre and a lot of people.”

Giants

Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reported earlier in the day that the Giants have received “decent offers” from teams for WR Odell Beckham Jr.

After the game, Beckham told reporters that he doesn’t think he’ll be traded in the coming days.

“[My name] was tossed around in the offseason, and I’m still here,” Beckham said, via NJ.com. “I don’t think I’m going anywhere. This is where I’m at. All I want to do is be the very best that I can be. Off the field. When I’m on the field. It’s really hard to think about that. It is what it is.”

When asked if he wants to stay in New York, Beckham said: “It’s where I’m at.”
