Trent Williams
- According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the NFL and NFLPA will conduct a joint investigation into Redskins LT Trent Williams‘ medical situation, as requested by the team.
- The NFL and NFLPA will each select one unaffiliated doctor to review what took place with the doctors selecting a third to complete their panel.
- La Canfora mentions that the panel of doctors will receive all medical information, including Williams’ team records and second opinion and submit their findings to be reviewed by an NFL/NFLPA joint committee to determine if there was any wrongdoing.
- La Canfora adds that there is “no set timetable” for a possible ruling and it doesn’t seem like a decision will be made “for a while.”
- La Canfora expects the Redskins to place Williams on the Non-Football Injury list after his roster exemption is lifted next week, which will lead to “more grievances” over his contract.
- In the end, La Canfora believes the “likely scenario” for Williams and Washington is for them to trade him in “early 2020.”
Rob Gronkowski
Former Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski said he would return to the NFL if he is “missing the game” and still has the option to play again.
โMaybe, one day, if Iโm missing the game and I feel I need to play, then Iโll go do it,โ Gronkowski said, via John Kyrk of the Toronto Sun. โBut thatโs what I love about it, is I have the option to be able to go back and play. Which is great. Thatโs what I love. Having the option to be able to go back and play.โ
Gronkowski went on to say that he has not strongly considered returning to the league, given that he has “a lot going on” with his move to broadcasting.
โLetโs put it this way,โ Gronkowski said. โI just really havenโt thought about it. Like I said, I love that I have the option, but I havenโt thought about going back at all. Iโm really busy with what I have going on. I have a lot going on. I donโt really see myself at all. But itโs always just good, like I said, to have the option. If itโs this year, next year, or even in four years, I feel like itโs just great to have [the option].โ
