Today has been pretty short on news worthy stories but we just came across an article from Adam Caplan of Fox Sports in which he suggests that the “chances of the Colts re-signing Joseph Addai are probably much less than 50-50.”
Caplan mentions the fact that the Colts used a first-round pick on Donald Brown just a few years ago as the basis for his logic.
While I can understand why some teams could be cautious about signing Addai to a multi-year contract, mainly because of his recent injury troubles, passing on him for Brown would be a larger gamble than retaining a veteran player that provides some versatility for the teams offense.
Indianapolis released Bob Sanders yesterday which will save them $5.5 million next year but then again they’ll have to pay Peyton Manning over $20 million for the 2011 so the money saved from Sanders will not go as far as it could.
