The Atlanta Falcons gave up a good majority of this years draft and a portion of next years in return for Julio Jones last night and whether or not you see the move as being a great or terrible, the team is going to have to look to the free agent market to fill out their roster.
Len Pasquarelli of Sports Xchange reports that the Falcons are targeting Minnesota Vikings DE Ray Edwards.
The Falcons need another pass rusher opposite of John Abraham so the idea makes sense but asย Pasquarelli points out, the Vikings have given him a restricted-free agent tender which could allot them to Edwards unless a team is willing to pay the draft compensation to sign him.
That’s something that the Flacons are not going to be able to pay considering that they already gave up next first-round pick.
Atlanta has more needs than just wide-receiver so the free agent market will be leaned on heavily to shore up their roster for the 2011 season.
