The Oakland Raiders will host free agents DT Dan Williams and ILB Curtis Lofton Tuesday, according to John Middlekauff.
Williams appears to be Oakland’s fallback plan, as NT Terrance Knighton appears headed elsewhere after an initial push from the Raiders.
Williams, 27, is a former first round pick of the Cardinals back in 2010. He played out his five-year,ย $8,985,000 rookie contractย thatย included $6,880,000 guaranteed and is now in position to be one of best available defensive tackles in this year’s market.
Last year, Williams appeared inย all 16 games for the Cardinals and recorded 32 tackles, one sack, and a pass defense.ย Pro Football Focusย has him rated as the No. 14 defensive tackle out of 81 qualifying players.
Lofton was released by New Orleans after the team attempted to trade him. ย While Lofton had a down year in 2014, his release was more a result of New Orleans restrictive cap situation.
In 2014, Lofton recorded 145 tackles, one forced fumble and a recovery over the course of 16 games for New Orleans.ย Pro Football Focus has Lofton rated as the No. 57 inside linebacker out of 60 qualifying players last year.
