Odell Beckham Doesn’t Plan To Request Trade This Offseason

According to Jason La Canfora, Browns WR Odell Beckham doesn’t plan to request a trade this offseason, though the receiver remains frustrated at how the 2019 season has played out.

La Canfora writes that Beckham is among a group of Browns players who are concerned about the direction of the team. The Browns passing offense has yet to get off the ground, second-year QB Baker Mayfield has apparently regressed and there are concerns about HC Freddie Kitchens‘ ability to instill discipline in the team.

Beckham has been frustrated for pretty much the entire season, but has gone out of his way to bite his tongue and try not to be seen as a distraction the way he was by some with the Giants. However, La Canfora acknowledges that frustration has boiled over at times, with Beckham voicing his displeasure to confidants and even opponents

La Canfora also mentions that no decisions have been made about a potential surgery for a sports hernia for Beckham after the season. While Beckham has played through discomfort, sources say it hasn’t been enough to seriously impair him.

Beckham, 27, was taken with the No. 12 overall pick by the Giants back in 2014. He was set to make a base salary of $8,459,000 for the 2018 season when he agreed to a new five-year extension worth up to $95 million and includes $65 million in total guarantees.

The Giants traded Beckham to the Browns this offseason for the No. 17 overall pick, their second third-round pick and S Jabrill Peppers.

Beckham stands to make base salaries of $16.75 million and $14 million over the next two years.

In 2019, Beckham has appeared in 13 games for the Browns and caught 59 passes for 844 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
