Field Yates reports that the Packers are expected to re-sign veteran TE Marcedes Lewis to a one-year, $2.25 million contract.
The Packers released TE Jimmy Graham last week, so there have been questions about how they were going to address the position this offseason.
Lewis has been a good addition for Green Bay and should continue to serve as a blocking tight end.
Lewis, 35, is a former first-round pick of the Jaguars back in 2006. Lewis was in the final year three-year, $12 million contract that included $5 million guaranteed and set to make a base salary of $3.5 million for the 2018 season when the Jaguars released him.
The Packers later signed Lewis to a contract and he’s spent the past two years in Green Bay.
In 2019, Lewis appeared in all 16 games for the Packers and caught 15 passes for 156 yards receiving and one touchdown.
