Rob Demovsky of the Green Bay-Press Gazette writes that Ryan Grant is likely to remain in Green Bay for the upcoming season rather than being cut lose like some have previously speculated.
The Packers are on the hook for Grant’s $5.25 million salary and their backfield could have James Starks, Alex Green possible even Brandon Jackson. Last season Jackson filled in for Grant and struggled as the teams featured running back but actually pretty productive as a third-down back. He’s set to be a restricted-free agent but that’s no guarantee.
It will be interesting to see who the Packers plan on keeping considering that they’ll have 16 players returning from the IR along with the ten rookies that they recently drafted.
