Packers Release WR Dez Stewart From Practice Squad

The Green Bay Packers officially released WR Dez Stewart from their practice squad, which will open a roster spot for QB Joe Callahan.

The Packers’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. TE Devon Cajuste 
  2. OLB Reggie Gilbert 
  3. G Lucas Patrick 
  4. WR Herb Waters 
  5. DT Brian Price
  6. WR Dez Stewart
  7. C Jacob Flores
  8. RB Brandon Burks
  9. DB Jermaine Whitehead
  10. LB Derrick Mathews

Stewart, 23, wound up going undrafted out of Ohio Dominican back in May but later signed on with the Buccaneers before he was waived with the injury designation a few weeks later.

After clearing waivers, he reverted to the Buccaneers’ injured reserve but was cut loose back in June. He had a brief stint with the Redskins and later signed on to the Packers’ practice squad a few months ago.

During his four-year college career, Stewart totaled 196 receptions for 3,197 yards receiving (16.3 YPR) and 25 touchdowns. He also contributed 416 kick return yards and 171 punt return yards to go along with one return touchdown.
