Packers Showing A Lot Of Interest In ASU DL Will Sutton

According to College Football 24/7, the Green Bay Packers continue to show interest in Arizona State DT Will Sutton.

The Packers reportedly met with Sutton for a second time this week after first interviewing him at the Senior Bowl a few weeks ago.

Sutton was believed to be a first-round talent entering the 2013 season, and even though he produced 48 tackles — 13.5 of which came for a loss — four sacks and an interception, questions about his conditioning appear to have impacted his draft stock.

At the combine, Sutton weighed in at 303, but that doesn’t appear to be an issue for the Packers as they apparently told him that they would like him to keep the weight on.

“They told me, ‘If you come here, we’re going to keep the weight on you,” Sutton said.

The Packers are expected to allow veteran players like B.J. Raji and Ryan Pickett to depart in free agency, which could explain their interest in Sutton.

Sutton previously mentioned that he has met with the Buccaneers, Cowboys, Raiders, Ravens, Saints and Texans as well.

    • Height is definitely an issue with Sutton, but the Packers were able to find a solid player in Mike Daniels who is also 6’0 foot.

      • There are hundreds of universities with football programs and, therefore, hundreds of d tackles. It seems that the Packers are consistently avoiding the top 5 in their category.

  1. I don’t remember players who the Packers had interest in being this public before. I really don’t like prospects making it public which teams have a lot of interest in them. Takes everything away from the secrecy and mind games of drafting. The other day Kyle Van Noy said the Packers had interest in him, then caught himself and said he shouldn’t say which other teams had interest in him. Thanks a lot, Kyle. -___-
