Packers Sign TE Beau Sandland To Practice Squad, Cut RB Brandon Burks

The Green Bay Packers officially signed TE Beau Sandland to their practice squad on Friday and waived RB Brandon Burks from the unit.

The Packers’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. LB Carl Bradford
  2. TE Devon Cajuste
  3. OLB Reggie Gilbert
  4. G Lucas Patrick
  5. WR Herb Waters
  6. DT Brian Price
  7. WR Dez Stewart
  8. C Jacob Flores
  9. TE Beau Sandland
  10. DB Jermaine Whitehead

Sandland, 23, was selected in the seventh round of this year’s NFL draft by the Panthers. He was, unfortunately, unable to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason and was later signed to the team’s practice squad.

Carolina elected to cut him loose on Wednesday.

During his senior season at Montana State, Sandland caught 37 passes for 632 yards (17.1 YPR) and nine touchdowns.

Burks, 22, wound up going undrafted out of Troy before signing three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Packers. It appeared as though Burks was going to be the Packers’ No. 3 running back before they elected to waive him during their final roster cuts.

During his four-year college career at Troy, Burks recorded 430 carries for 2,253 yards (5.2 YPC) and 12 rushing touchdowns. He also accumulated 88 receptions for 673 yards receiving (7.6) and three touchdowns.
