Packers Sign CB Tramon Williams To Two-Year Deal Worth Around $10M

The Green Bay Packers are signing veteran CB Tramon Williams to a two-year contract on Thursday, according to James Jones.

  • Ian Rapoport reports that Williams’ contract is a two-year deal worth roughly $10 million.

The Packers clearly needed to bolster their cornerback depth this offseason and Williams is not only familiar with Green Bay, but previously played for new DC Mike Pettine while they were with the Browns.

Last week, the Packers signed Bears CB Kyle Fuller to an offer sheet and Chicago took the full five days to match it, which may explain why Green Bay waited until now to sign a cornerback.

Williams, 35, wound up signing on with the Packers as an undrafted free agent out of Louisiana Tech back in 2007.  He spent eight years in Green Bay before signing a three-year, $21 million contract that included $10 million guaranteed with the Browns in 2015.

After two years in Cleveland, Williams signed a one-year contract with the Cardinals last summer.

In 2017, Williams appeared in 13 games for the Cardinals and recorded 41 tackles, two interceptions, a fumble recovery and 12 pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 9 cornerback out of 120 qualifying players.
