Adam Schefter reports that contract talks between the Packers and free agent TE Jared Cook have broken off and Cook is now expected to visit with other teams.
The Lions, Bills and Bears are reportedly interested in Cook, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see him take a visit to one of these teams in the coming days.
Cook is among the best available tight ends and while he was a good fit in Green Bay, it’s possible that other teams could push up his asking price and make it tough on the Packers to match.
Cook, 29, is a former third-round pick by the Titans in the 2009 NFL Draft. He played out his rookie contract with Tennessee before signing a big-money deal with the Rams as a free agent back in 2013.
After he was released by the Rams, the Packers signed Cook to a one-year,ย $2.75 million last offseason.
In 2016, Cook appeared in 10 games for the Packers and recorded 30 receptions for 377 yards receiving, one touchdown, and lost one fumble. Pro Football Focus graded him as the No. 11 overall tight end out of 63 qualifying players.
We have him featured in ourย Top 50 Available Free Agents list.
