According to Ian Rapoport, Panthers EDGE Christian Miller has decided to opt out of the 2020 season.
Miller was a fourth-round pick by Carolina last season, but made the decision sitting out this year as a high-risk opt-out was ultimately the best call.
The remaining three years of Miller’s rookie contract will toll and restart again in 2021. As a high-risk opt-out, he should receive a $350,000 stipend from the NFL in 2020.
Miller, 24, was drafted by the Panthers in the fourth round out of Alabama in 2019. He signed a four-year rookie contract worth $3.25 million and was set to make a base salary of $675,000 in 2020.
In 2019, Miller appeared in seven games for the Panthers and recorded three total tackles and two sacks.
