The Carolina Panthers announced that they have signed former Jets second-round pick WRย Stephen Hill to their practice squad on Tuesday.
- The Panthers released LB D.J. Smith from the practice squad to make room for Hill.
Carolina brought Hill in for a workout on Monday, so they were clearly interested in giving him shot.
- ESPN’s Adam Caplan reports that the Redskins were also interested in workingย himย out.
Hill, 23, was waived as the Jets made their final roster cuts to get down to 53 players this past weekend. Hill wound up passing through waivers unclaimed.
Last year, Hill appeared in 12 games and caught 24 passes for 342 yards receiving and a touchdown.
