According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, the Panthers are finalizing a two-year contract with S Da’Norris Searcy that should be done later today.
It’s worth mentioning that signing Searcy to a contract won’t impact a team’s 2019 compensatory picks, given that he was released this offseason.
Searcy, 29, is a former fourth-round pick of the Bills back in 2011. He played out his rookie contract in Buffalo and eventually signed a four-year, $23.75 million deal that included $7 million guaranteed with the Titans in 2015.
Last year, Searcy agreed to a pay cut to be back with the Titans and was set to make a base salary of $3.8 million for the 2018 season when the Titans released him this offseason.
In 2017, Searcy appeared in all 16 games for the Titans and recorded 26 tackles, one interception and two pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 61 safety out of 87 qualifying players.
