Ward, 26, wound up signing on with the Falcons as an undrafted free agent out of Oregon State back in May of 2015. He was in the second year of his three-year, $1.575 million contract and set to make a base salary of $525,000 for the 2016 season when he was waived and signed to the practice squad.
The Falcons promoted him to their practice squad later on in 2016 and he played out the next year on the active roster but was declined a tendered offer the next offseason.
In 2017, Ward appeared in 14 games for the Falcons and ran for 129 yards on 30 carries (4.3 YPC) to go along with three receptions for 14 yards receiving (4.7 YPC).
