According to Ian Rapoport, the Patriots are planning to sign OT Jared Veldheer later this week. Rapoport says the two sides are in a good place with the numbers following Veldheer’s visit last week.
- Tom Pelissero adds that Veldheer is expected to sign a one-year contract worth up to $6.5 million with the Patriots.
The veteran will help the Patriots’ depth at offensive tackle.
Veldheer, 31, is a former third-round pick of the Raiders back in 2010. After four years in Oakland, Veldheer signed a five-year, $35 million contract that included $10.5 million guaranteed with the Cardinals in March of 2014.
In 2018, the Cardinals traded Veldheer to the Broncos in exchange for a sixth-round pick. Veldheer made a base salary of $6.5 million for the 2018 season.
In 2018, Veldheer started 12 games for the Broncos and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 58 offensive tackle out of 80 qualifying players.
