The Patriots announced on Wednesday they have released TE Eric Tomlinson to go along with S Jordan Richards.
The moves clear space on the roster for WR Mohamed Sanu and DB Justin Bethel, traded for and signed respectively.
New England also signed OL Aaron Monteiro to the practice squad.
Tomlinson, 27, originally signed on with the Eagles in 2015 as an undrafted free agent out of UTEP. He was unfortunately among their final roster cuts, but later signed a future/reserve deal with the Texans.
Houston waived Tomlinson at the start of the 2016 regular season and he was later signed off of their practice squad by the Jets before eventually being added to their active roster.
New York declined to tender Tomlinson a restricted offer this offseason and he later had a brief stint with the Jets before signing on with the Giants soon after. He was released a few weeks ago and picked up by the Patriots.
In 2019, Tomlinson has appeared in three games for the Giants and one game for the Patriots, catching one passs for one yard.
Richards, 26, is a former second-round pick of the Patriots back in 2015. The Patriots traded him to the Falcons last year for a conditional seventh-round pick.
Richards played out the final year of his four-year, $3.711 million contract and made a base salary of $705,000 for the 2018 season. He signed a one-year deal with the Raiders this offseason but was released coming out of the preseason.
New England brought Richards back a few weeks ago.
In 2019, Richards has appeared in three games for the Patriots and recorded two tackles.
