Patriots Releasing WR Kenny Britt

Ian Rapoport reports that the Patriots are releasing veteran WR Kenny Britt on Wednesday.

Expectations for Britt were somewhat high entering training camp, but the veteran receiver was placed on the PUP list with a hamstring injury, which left him behind.

Britt, 29, is a former first-round pick of the Titans back in 2009. He spent five years in Tennessee before signing on with the Rams in 2014.

The Browns signed Britt to a four-year, $32.5 million deal back in March of last year before waiving him in December. The Patriots later signed him to a two-year contract that included a 2018 team option.

New England officially exercised Britt’s option this past March.

In 2017, Britt appeared in 12 games for the Browns and Patriots and caught 20 passes for 256 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
