According to Mike Garafolo, the Patriots are finalizing a multi-year extension with WR Julian Edelman.

- The deal includes an $8 million signing bonus and $12 million guaranteed, according to Mike Reiss.
Edelman was entering the final year of his deal and would have been an unrestricted free agent in 2020. He was scheduled to make a base salary of $2 million in 2019.
Edelman, 32, is a former seventh-round pick of the Patriots back in 2009. He was in the final year of a four-year, $17 million contract when the Patriots signed him to a two-year extension worth $11 million and included $9 million guaranteed in 2017.
Edelman was suspended the first four games of the 2018 season after violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing drug policy.
In 2018, Edelman appeared in 12 games for the Patriots and caught 74 passes for 850 yards receiving and six touchdowns. He also added 107 rushing yards and 154 punt return yards for New England. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 14 receiver out of 117 qualifying players.
