The New England Patriots signed DT Xavier Williams and TE Paul Quessenberry on Saturday and placed TE Alex Ellis and DT Darius Kilgo on waivers, according to Mike Reiss.
Williams recently tried out for the Patriots so he was on their radar as a potential addition.
Williams, 28, wound up signing on with the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent out of Northern Iowa back in 2015. He wound up playing out his three-year, $1,583,000 contract with the Cardinals.
The Chiefs signed Williams to an offer sheet as a restricted free agent in 2018 after Arizona tendered him with the original round designation. He was awarded to Kansas City after the Cardinals declined to match.
In 2019, Williams has appeared in five games for the Chiefs and recorded eight total tackles and one forced fumble.
We had him included in our Top 100 Available 2020 Free Agents list.
