According to Ian Rapoport, the Patriots are signing OT Caleb Benenoch.
Benenoch bolsters New England’s depth at offensive tackle, where both starters Isaiah Wynn and Marcus Cannon have picked up injuries.
Benenoch has recently worked out for the Lions and Texans since becoming available, so there was a decent amount of interest in him. Rapoport says he turned down nine teams with interest to go to New England.
Benenoch, 25, is a former fifth-round pick of the Buccaneers back in 2016. He was in the final year of his four-year, $2.823 million contract and set to make a base salary of $720,000 for the 2019 season when the Buccaneers waived him last week.
Benenoch cleared waivers and is now an unrestricted free agent.
In 2019, Benenoch appeared in one game for the Buccaneers and drew the start.
